Koi no Yokan by Dax brings a poetic Japanese concept to life through calligraphy and abstraction. Selûn Collective offers this limited edition giclée print as part of the 2025 Print Collection. It comes in A2 size (42 × 59.4 cm / 16.5 × 23.4″) on Hahnemühle German Etching paper.
The title refers to a Japanese expression. It describes the feeling of knowing you will fall in love with someone from the very first encounter — even before love takes root. Unlike love at first sight, Koi no Yokan carries a quiet certainty. It speaks to a connection that will deepen over time, like a river flowing toward the sea. Dax translates this invisible emotion into visible form through his signature fusion of calligraphy and abstract expressionism.
As a Guatemalan graphic artist, Dax draws all his work from the world of letters. He liberates them from books, advertising, and conventional media. He gives them new life as fine art. In Koi no Yokan by Dax, letterforms dissolve into sweeping gestural strokes of acrylic and ink. The composition feels both deliberate and spontaneous. Controlled calligraphic lines meet expressive abstract passages. This tension mirrors the concept itself: knowing and not-yet-knowing, certainty within uncertainty.
