Sebastián López Durán
He paints to express and enter the everyday world from his autistic perspective. A cubism innate, not learned, like the one Picasso dreamed of after his long journey. Characters cyclopeans, with scratched eyes and strong hands with six or eight fingers, the result of visions peripheral and spontaneous juxtapositions. Houses, characters, animals, cities, windows, labels and more labels: an obsessive world and a constant exploration of color.
Sebastián López Durán is a self-taught and spontaneous artist with Asperger’s syndrome. His mother discovered his talent at the age of seventeen when she found him painting on the surface of an old bed. Since then, he has used his art as a means of self-expression and interaction with others. Sebastián’s work, driven by juxtaposition, curiosity, and instinct, has been exhibited in Guatemala, Italy, the Dominican Republic, and the United States.
